PMP, ITIL,CCIE. Six skills that get you promoted !!

Many professionals neglect the basic workplace skills and unconciously set themselves back. Follow this list of job skills that make getting a raise or career advancement a whole lot easier.

1. Be on your bosses good side. This is rule numero uno. You don't have to kiss butt but the workplace is no place for professional or personal enemies.

2. Do not embarass your boss, if he or she is wrong tell them behind closed doors, or better yet just keep it to yourself!!

3. Good grooming at work is a must it really pays off.

4. Come to work on time and often, employers don't want to promote you then have to ask the person they bypassed for your promotion to do your work because you have called in sick, AGAIN!

5. Keep your resume current. Sometimes you have to switch employers to get that raise!

6. And for God's sake do not be confrontational with your coworkers, employers don't want to have to be referees, if you display an ability to work smoothly with others your chances for advancement are much greater.

Remember advancement is often a about the intangibles and how well you relate to the people above you. Start practicing these six skills and you will be surprised that you got the raise , promotion or special assignment that you were hoping for.

RHCE, RHCT. Make more money with RHCE and Linux Certifications.

Whether you have RHCE certification, or other Linux IT Certifications, your Linux Certification will make you more money in the job market.

The truth is that employers know of and respect the various Linux certifications. Linux and other open source OS are widely in use in private industry already and their popularity is spreading. As various distros of Linux become more refined and widely accepted the need for qualified IT personnel to support these networks will grow.

However it is not wise to be only Linux certified, a better idea is to be certified across multiple disciplines. Linux IT certifications are not as widely known as some others such as MCSE, CCNA, or PMP. So a Linux cert while it will make you more money needs to be supplemented by at least one other non Linux certification.

A Linux certification makes you bilingual in a sense among computer operating systems. So go ahead and get a Linux certification and supplement it with your PMP or CCNA. Your salary will surely be a lot higher because of it.
